Objects Clause of the Foundation

The objects clause in Article 2 of the Articles of Association of the Freedom of Expression Foundation, Oslo, reads as follows:

The paramount object of the Freedom of Expression Foundation, Oslo, is to protect and promote freedom of expression and the environment for freedom of expression in Norway, particularly by encouraging lively debate and the dauntless use of the free word.

The Freedom of Expression Foundation, Oslo, can also support other aspects of Norwegian culture, primarily those dealing with free speech.

In special cases, the Freedom of Expression Foundation, Oslo, can help promote freedom of expression in other countries.

As its contribution, the Freedom of Expression Foundation, Oslo, shall award the Freedom of Expression Prize and the Freedom of Expression Tribute, and provide direct support for special projects, based on applications or on its own initiative.
